Based on this utterly amazing photo, which shows a local member of the Orisha (or Shango) faith taking part in the Oshun River Festival. In the photo, they have made offerings and are paying homage to Oshun, the river deity.

Content Notes: Inspired by MerMay, but created as part of the Shan He Ling (Word of Honor) Reverse Bang 2022 challenge.

I started drawing WKX's lower half with a mermaid tail, but as a deep sea creature, I really enjoyed the tendril-like flow of his robes underwater, so I went with that instead. ^__^

Content Notes: Created for the Draw Your Hand challenge. Blind Contour Drawing (technique demo) of my hand in various positions, using waterproof fineliner on watercolour paper. I then played around with layering the background with watercolour, and added patterns with a white correction fluid pen.

The process for this piece began by drawing lines using both my left and right hand on the page, then I started shading flowing gradients, and used the emerging shapes to develop the space.
