Even though my livelihood is not affected by AI yet, I try to follow what's happening to professional artists and wanted to share this.

With the widespread use of generative AI, we decided to build a place that filters out generative AI images so that people who want to find authentic creatives and artwork can do so easily.
Many platforms currently accept AI art when it’s not ethical, while others have promised “no AI forever” policies without consideration for the scenario where adoption of such technologies may happen at the workplace in the coming years.
The future of creative industries requires nuanced understanding and support to help artists and companies connect and work together. We want to bridge the gap and build a platform that we would enjoy using as creatives ourselves.
Even though my livelihood is not affected by AI yet, I try to follow what's happening to professional artists and wanted to share this.

I did this challenge once and was NOT familiar with the fandom my author wrote for. Authors have to provide you with links to resources for the characters though (including screencaps), so there is definitely help to work for an unfamiliar fandom.
I had a good time back then, so if you can fit it around your other commitments, consider signing up!

So just a heads up in case anyone's interested in claiming a creator and doing an artwork for them. Anyone can put in a claim - you don't have to have signed up earlier as a complementary creator. In the second round of claiming you can claim specific works, do complementary works for more than one primary, and there can be multiple complements for one primary.
Here's the link - then watch the Big Bang comm on Aug 22nd when the first round of claiming will open.

Sunshine challenge and colours
Jul. 4th, 2020 04:22 pmmekareHey I just checked out this year‘s sunshine challenge and thought it might be relevant to our comm. Last year when it ran for the first time it was pretty similar to snowflake_challenge with prompts to talk about fandom and your fannish self and interaction. But the first prompt this year is a colour! This makes me think there might be other colour prompts later on. They also added a poem extract which had the colour in it. The good thing about sunshine challenge is that it is really low pressure, and you are welcome to come back to the prompts whenever you like. I hope some people do art as the prompt response, I‘m really looking forward to checking out the responses.

There are many many stories yet to claim this year in fandoms as diverse as Naruto, Hannibal, Glee, The Untamed or Star Wars.
Being a procrastinator myself I am super happy this challenge exists to finish off those WIPs for writers. Maybe there should be one for artists as well? Now that would be an idea...

Fanart is eligible for this fannish auction. Note that there are no physical items allowed because the post is iffy right now, and all participants must be 18+ so it's fine to offer explicit content.
