drawesome's Challenge #19: 10 Minutes for 10 Days. These were all drawn in my daily planner using pencil, pen, markers and coloured pencils.

The majority of them took way more than 10 minutes, some up to even 2 hours. For this challenge, I focused on practicing different drawing styles, and trying to develop a consistent routine to draw something around the same time at the end of each day, so didn't give myself a time limit.

Just cos I feel like it's easy to think other artists don't have this problem: I'm happy enough with all of these pictures, but comparing the Homecoming and Pink Panther pictures is a vivid example of the variation in my ability to draw neat lines and proportions. (Other artists do have this problem, right? OR IS IT JUST ME)

Content Notes: Created for Challenge #10: Prompt Generator. I got biology - pick - illegal on my first try and did a pencil sketch pretty quickly. Then work got crazy and I inked it in a bit of a hurry last night by using my new Pentel brush pen (so I have the option of going over it with watercolours later). It was fun and taught me a lot about using the pen. I couldn't resist doing a little crossover and adding Dief and Fraser in the park as well. Dief of course is pretty much on to Pam.

Title: Inktober - Week 3

Content Notes: For the third week, I decided to try India ink and brush. I checked out a whole bunch of really helpful tutorials on YouTube, and managed to produce 4 pieces this week. In the final piece, I overlaid acrylic paint with the India ink.

I found that unlike watercolour, India Ink has a certain density about it, that gives a gorgeous matte finish when applied heavily, but also makes it far more difficult to lift off the page once it's been applied. I have had the best time looking at vids and trying out the ink drop technique. What a cool effect! :)

Content Notes: For the second week, I switched from ballpoint pen to marker. Way more challenging, especially trying to get more subtle shading and textures, however it gave me a chance to play around with positive-negative space. I only did 4 pieces, but I really had a lot of fun with these. I used the Official prompt list for all this week. :)

Thanks to

goss I can post my results from the second week in a more tidy fashion (~~btw I have no idea why the last icon is smaller, it's 100x100 as well~~ ETA:fixed) :-) I'm probably going to change my plan of doing something every two to three days, now that work's starting again (going through Sunday, blergh). I'll see. Anyway I am pretty happy that I have managed to get a good head start on Inktober, even if the second half of the month will produce fewer drawings.

I managed four pieces this week. I wanted to switch to black ink only but the failed gold ink portrait wouldn't let me be *g*.

Content Notes: This is my first time taking part as well. Somehow I started with gold ink and couldn't switch to black up to now *g*. Previously I had only used it for Elvish writing or decorative stuff. I am slowly learning the possibilities and limits of working with it. I had planned to post every two to three days and so far it worked, despite my main focus being on my Big Bang pieces (one still left).

Content Notes: A DCU/MCU crossover. Decided to give Baby Groot a friend. ^__^ I used my left hand to draw with pencil and paint with watercolour. I have never tried to use a paintbrush with my non-dominant hand, so I'm really happy with the way it came out. It did take me twice as long (if not more!) than it usually would though, plus my wrist kept cramping from the unaccustomed movement. Also, my name is signed backwards, because for some reason it's easier for my left hand to write stuff mirror-imaged. :b
