Title: Show Your Colours on AO3
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: G
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters/Pairings: John Sheppard/Rodney McKay
Content Notes: Made in Procreate. I decided to do a limited palette drawing, and of course chose the flag with the most eyewatering colours!

And there's also a grayscale version.

Title: The Keepmer on AO3
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: Teen
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters/Pairings: The Keeper (Wraith queen)
Content Notes: Part of a cracky series for Mermay, where I shoehorn "mer" into various characters' names. This was inspired by Panisdead's story Ascension World: A Place for Children where the nasty possibility of aquatic Wraith is raised. So here's an AU version of the Keeper - the Wraith queen from Rising.
Summary: The last thing any diver wants to find is a Wraith Queen lurking in the kelp.

Rating: Teen
Fandom: Hawaii five-O
Characters/Pairings: Danny Williams/Steve McGarrett
Content Notes: Made in Procreate. Part of a cracky series for Mermay and the current Drawesome prompt, where I shoehorn "mer" into various characters' names.
Summary: "I don't swim, Steven."

Fandom: Aquaman (movie)
Characters/Pairings: Aquaman

Summary: Because seriously, Aquaman should always have been a mer. Whenever he hits the water, the tail appears!

Characters/Pairings: Murderbot
Content Notes: Made in Procreate. The first in a cracky series for Mermay, based on puns where I shoehorn "mer" into characters' names.
Summary: The humans are trapped in a deep-sea research station, so ART makes Murderbot some aquatic modifications.

1. What was your most challenging artwork to create (or took the longest time)?

It was an illustration I did for a WIP Big Bang "Band of Brothers" fic. I didn't read that part of the story carefully enough and when I ran the final draft past the author they pointed out that in the fic the woman was in a purple dress (it's set in about 1950), and that it was nighttime not daytime! Luckily it was a digital work, and the dress was easy to fix. In the end I managed to darken the whole pic, shift the colour tone more towards blue, illuminate the windows, and add some lighting effects. I used my iPad's edit functions in Photos, plus Procreate. These are the two versions:

Title: First six days of Drawtober
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: Teen for some disturbing imagery
Fandom: original art
Content Notes: Made in Procreate. The theme is horror it being October, so there's organs, blood, a rodent, fear, a skeleton, and a monster. Smaller versions of the pics are under the cut below, and you can see them larger size at my journal under the Drawtober 2024 tag, where there are specific content notes for each, and the occasional additional note about what I was trying to draw. Clicking on each pic below takes you straight to the full-sized pic. I'll only do these intermittently from now I think, as I get carried away with them and have other things I need to complete.

Title: Derailment on AO3
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: G
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters/Pairings: Rodney McKay
Content Notes: Sorry to have been spamming the comm, but I've wanted to do a number of works for the Stargate (20th) Anniversary fest, and this challenge worked well for that. Again, I've taken a very old original artwork and made it fanart, redoing it in Procreate. Rodney came to mind for this one, for a bunch of reasons which are in the AO3 summary and notes. Apart from adding the portrait of Rodney, I updated the background and went a bit overboard with stars, but kept the wonky toy train and trestle for their quirkiness.

Title: Ancestor on AO3
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: Mature (for the original work - naked torso)
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters/Pairings: Teyla Emmagan, Wraith Queen
Content Notes: Again, I've taken a very old original artwork and made it fanart, redoing it in Procreate.
Teyla being a person of color emphasises how very white the original is, and the old version also has unusual anatomy with Modigliani-like elongations, especially of their necks. The distortion was, I think, partly deliberate, but mostly as I never used references then and went for a quirky look rather than accuracy. The new version is technically better, but the problem with the Wraith is that they always look so over the top it's hard to take them seriously, which makes the redraw somewhat melodramatic.

Title: At Home With the Rabbits, Ronon Was a Completely Different Person on AO3
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: G
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters/Pairings: Ronon Dex
Content Notes: No warnings apply. Again, I've taken a very old original artwork and made it fanart, redoing it in Procreate. I like the original so I haven't changed much except for Ronon which meant adding in some guns and knives. Ronon's muscles are hopefully a little more realistic than Maurice's in the old version. I also tweaked the perspective slightly on a few things, and made the faucets less weird. The wallpaper was a nightmare and I managed it better in the old gouache (kid's paintbox) version - goodness knows how.

Title: Elephant Man on AO3
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: G
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters/Pairings: John Sheppard
Content Notes: Created for the current challenge to redraw an old artwork. I first painted this many years ago in oils on canvas. This one's typical of the odd, quirky subjects I used to paint. In redoing this painting digitally in Procreate I made it into fanart, and John felt like the right choice.

Title: Lovers Asleep on a Beach, Discovered by Penguins on AO3
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: Mature - NSFW (non-explicit nudity)
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Characters/Pairings: John Sheppard/Rodney McKay
Content Notes: Created for the current challenge to redraw an old artwork. I first painted this many years ago using kids' paintbox paints (like cheap gouache). I used to paint quirky subjects, a bit cracky or surreal, and hoped that my wonky drawing abilities added a little charm. In redoing this painting digitally in Procreate I made it into fanart, and focussed on drawing the figures (and the perspective) slightly more accurately, and on the penguins being realistic rather than caricatures. These are yellow-eyed penguins, so John and Rodney must be on leave in the South Island of New Zealand.

Fandom: My Own Private Idaho
Rating: General Audiences
