Title: Oshun
Artist: [personal profile] goss
Rating: G
Content Notes: Created for [community profile] drawesome Challenge #52 - Body Type Diversity. Digital drawing, using the pencil tool.

Based on this utterly amazing photo, which shows a local member of the Orisha (or Shango) faith taking part in the Oshun River Festival. In the photo, they have made offerings and are paying homage to Oshun, the river deity.

In the wake of the enthusiastic response to our previous Challenge, for this month, we'll be taking a second swing at another in the Diversity Series, from 5 years ago:

Drawesome Challenge 52 - Body Type Diversity

Challenge #52: Body Type Diversity

Create a drawing featuring someone of a different body type or size than the 'ideal' that is usually seen in media.

You can challenge yourself to draw a human/humanoid body type that's completely different to your own, or a body type that you identify with but rarely see in media, or even just one that you've never attempted before.

Since the goal is to break out of the default 'ideal' body type when drawing, focus on those who are normally left out of common portrayals as your inspiration. (eg. fat, disfigured, gender non-conforming people, etc.).

Here are two drawing guides that focus on body diversity: Pics )

The comment section of this post may be used for discussion of the challenge (ie. ideas, suggestions, questions, etc.).

A round-up post for submissions to this challenge will be done at the end of the month, on Tuesday 28th February, 2023.

Happy Drawing, everyone! :)
