Title: Cats and Yarn
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: G
Fandom: original art
Content Notes: A quick digital pattern using the cat drawings I made for an earlier challenge (I've gotten a lot of mileage out of them!) Then I drew on the red yarn as a filler after re-assembling the halves. This is a simpler system where the two halves are just swapped horizontally, so the final pattern is squarer, rather than repeating on a diagonal. Click thumbnail for the post at my journal

Content Notes: I used my Archer & Olive blackout notebook and acrylographs, recreating a pattern from an old dish towel.

I can’t figure out how to make a preview, so Instagram link

Title: Hallows Pattern
Artist: [personal profile] goss
Rating: G
Fandom: 镇魂 | Guardian (TV 2018)
Content Notes: Created for drawing challenge #33: Pattern Design. The original design was painted using watercolours. Then I followed the steps in this video, to manually attempt a seamless pattern. And then the repetition was done digitally, which took WAY longer than anticipated, especially with all the background watercolours to try matching up for that seamless effect.

Title: Kingfisher pattern
Artist:[personal profile] mekare
Rating: G
Fandom: -
Content Notes: I painted the larger animals on a square piece of watercolour paper first, using a brush pen. I lfet off the colouring because I wanted to figure out the process first.
Instead of cutting up the paper (I wanted the option of a do-over), I copied this drawing onto cheap paper and cut that up instead. As it turns out, my cutting skills with a scissor aren't so good because in the scan of the reassembled, taped parts I saw that the edges weren't quite straight. [And here I added the smaller animals in the blank spaces). Plus, I had to do a LOT of digital cleanup once I had copy-pasted and tiled the square. Overall, I have to say that I am really glad I now know how to make a pattern like this! I think it would make for an excellent gift printed on a cotton bag or a mug.

A big thank you goes to [personal profile] mific's detailed process post because it inspired me to try this.

Title: Floral Pattern
Fandom: none
Artist: [personal profile] mific
Rating: G
Medium: gouache and digital
Summary:
Content Notes: I decided to try a basic flowery pattern, and used gouache as I figured it would be easier to piece together digitally, with the background being a flat colour. A WIP of the process and the final full-size pattern are at my journal - click on the thumbnail for the link.

Pale green background with lots of colorful stems and sprigs of flowers intertwined on it, and their leaves.

- 5 Steps to Illustrating a Repeat Pattern by Hand [Skillshare website]

We've also compiled a small list of possible prompts/themes to get you going, but of course you are not limited by these:

- Holidays and celebrations
- Winter, Summer
- Hobbies
- Fandom-related objects

Please feel free to use the comment section of this post for discussion of the challenge, suggestions for pattern themes, links to tutorials, etc.
