Hello everyone, it's been just over a month since drawesome opened its doors. Thanks to all who spread the word about the community, we now have a total of 59 members. \o/

To enhance everyone's experience here, and to give us a general idea of fan-artists' expectation for the comm, it would be greatly appreciated if all of our members take this poll. Thank you!

The idea of sharing art resources is a good one. Do we have a tag for it? Maybe separate tags for digital and traditional art, and also separate ones for resources and for hints/tips/tutorials?

Good idea. I can add a general tag for Resources for now, and whenever any Resource posts are made, I can create further more specific tags accordingly. eg. Resources: Digital Art, Resources: Tutorials, etc.

Yes, definitely. Non-fandome-related is fine. The important thing is to get the creative juices flowing. :)

I love the idea of challenges and drawing exercises but I'm too slow/don't always find time to do them in a week, otherwise I'm quite happy with the comm and I hope to post here as soon as I have something to contribute :)

Can we make art related posts for the discussion part? I have a couple of topics that I'm interested about hearing everybody's opinion on :)

No problem! I understand that people sometimes don't have time for drawing week-to-week, so all the challenges are open, with no real deadlines. So if say, once a month, you pick any of the previous challenges to work on, that would be totally fine.

Yes, definitely! Feel free to post a discussion topic to the community. It would be great to have more interaction between artists here. :)

First of all, thank you for amnesty week - it is a great idea (though not sure how much it will help me since the end of my holiday looms on the horizon this week). BUT since the challenges are open-ended I'm going to come back for them.

Another thing, maybe we could have a cheer-up, motivation, rant, whine post for when things get hard? Maybe to share some inspirational quotes to help when you feel like you can't get stuff on paper you want or when you are down. The focus should be on positivity and encouragement while we do the art or just have some place to turn to to commiserate. Maybe? Or there could be separate posts, I don't know if the comm is large enough for that.

Actually, today I'll be putting up a post at the comm for artists to share whatever other challenges and personal projects they're working on at the moment. A check-in/what's up kinda thing. I think it'll be a good chance for people here to get to know each other, even if they're not doing the weekly drawing exercises.

I like this idea! Having a place here for artists to vent their frustrations etc. would definitely be a good thing, since we pretty much all know how that feels. As you say, one of the benefits of so many artists being here together is a chance to commiserate, and encourage each other when the going gets tough.

Do you have any ideas for how we could title such a post?

So much YES for the Check-in post! I think that one could fulfill part of the motivation/rant/whine post's function if we share our current struggles there. Then the motivation post could be kept to strictly positive things like inspirational quotes or photosets or what have you (I'm sure community members can come up with more cool stuff, like silly drawings or such).Hum, as for a name, well, motivational thread/post or cheerleader post or, hm... or just um, "support"? Maybe someone else has more ideas.
