Today's the last day of September, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in September, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? I'm soooooo excited to finally start Inktober! :D Especially because otherwise, not much artsy is going on in my life... Of course I'm constantly sketching things, and also actively making and swapping ATCs, but my only "real" ongoing art project is a calendar with fantasy illustration stuff I'm planning to bring out for 2020. (No real deadline but it should go to print upcoming February at the latest, before convention season starts, otherwise promoting it isn't going to work.) The thing is, "real" illustrations take so much planning and time that I'm really looking forward to all the spontaneity and simple creative fun of fast ink sketches.

Me too! I like that Inktober is a structured art challenge, but allows for varying levels of complexity and skill - from experimenting with quick, random sketches to more elaborate ink work. :)

Elaborate ink work is, unfortunately, not me - I'm a beginner when it comes to pen drawing. But I'm sure it's going to be fun.

I haven't done much this last month in terms of producing fanart, but August's 10 Day Challenge did propel me to sign up to do art for a couple Big Bangs (marvel_bang and dcu_bang), both of which are due in a couple weeks.

So far, I've planned out the direction I want them to take, with some quick pencil sketches in my planner, but I haven't really buckled down to working on the actual pieces as yet.

I'm hoping to integrate both Big Bang challenges as part of my Inktober works, as well the previous Drawesome challenge (the Time Travel one). I can definitely see words like Potions and Bottles, Space, Antique, Clockwork, etc. lending itself to a Time Travel AU. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for your Marvel & DCU bangs! I didn't get a Marvel fic in the end, all the ones I fancied got claimed, but I got a really great DCU fic that I've done one main picture for so far. I might get another something done but timings are an issue...

What are ATCs? Also wow your stuff is amazing! Do you mind if I friend/follow you?

Sure, let's be friends! :)

And thank you! ATCs are Artist Trading Cards; basically they're miniature paintings in a certain format (2.5x3.5'' or 6.4x8.9cm), that you swap with other artists.

ATCs sound really cool! I'd never heard of such a thing before and now kind of what to try.

Yes, ATCs are a fun hobby, I make and swap them a lot! (The only way for me to have an "art collection", I can't buy everything I like, so I trade art against art... LOL) If you ever decide to try it out, there are several online communities around that specialise on ATC swapping. (Most online groups like that have some kind of rating system, for safety, because of the whole "sending by mail" thing.)

femslashex and fandomgrowthexchange are due this week. Maybe I will accomplish extra pieces! Or maybe not. I'm thinking I should have bought a space pen for Inktober because I would really just like to be able to draw in bed, wah.

I had to look up what a space pen was, and man! Very cool!

I always have trouble writing in my journal with a ballpoint pen when I'm on the bed, due to the flow of ink at that angle. Come to think of it, I remember encountering that same issue when I did the first few sketches for last year's Inktober.

Huh. Will have to look into acquiring one of those.

I've created so many digital manips (icons mostly) over the past months for various challenges, but not actively tried to DRAW anything, even digitally, until today. The good news is I finally had something I could share here :)

What have I been up to in September - well, like Goss, I've been working on my DCU Bang art, which is still under wraps at the moment. I've done art for the Dean Cas Big Bang which is posting on Tuesday, did two fills for SPN_Masquerade (both SFW and not at all kinky LOL) https://amberdreams.livejournal.com/591305.html

I've submitted two designs for painted sculpture trails next year, and have two more to finish and submit before the end of October.
SPN Reversebang modding took up a few days of my time this month but we had all our art works claimed and some really good pieces too, so I'm looking forward to seeing the partnerships in action.
I've signed up for SPN Eldritch and managed to claim one of my fave authors so I'm well chuffed about that!

And my laptop blew up so I had a couple of weeks panic before I got a proper diagnosis from Apple and found all I needed was a new internal cable - I'd very nearly taken the first advice I got and dumped the hard drive! Thank goodness I didn't and got a second opinion!

Love your watercolour pieces. Especially the one with the light shining over water. Cool how you were able to capture that luminescence with just a couple simple brushstrokes. :)

Also, Hulk!Sam is AMAZING. XD

Hello! I'm new here; I did do a bit of fanart in September, but it was for trickortreatex so nothing I can share until the de-anon period of the exchange, which isn't for a while. I also did a bunch of watercolor splashing about to familiarize with the medium, which I've been experimenting with for a couple years.

I'm totally psyched for Inktober! I love pen & ink work (I usually draw with a fountain pen although I also have a dip pen that I like very much). Alongside the prompts I'm probably just going to keep doing some life drawing.

I like the confident way you use quick, spiky strokes for your figure studies, kinda gives it a great kinetic feel.

It's going to be about friendship, punks and accidental resurrections. ON MARS. Sort of post-apocalyptic magical realism roadtrip thing, lol. I haven't worked out a pithy summary yet, lol.

I'm not using Inktober for it though! I'm doing Jeanne d'Arc for Inktober. Parce que j'en ai grave ma claque que le FN et leurs sbires occupe le terrain de son imaginaire collectif.

Also the design for the silk printing of the cat is really cool! I like the sort of minimalist, graphic look to it. It's got a lot of great contrasting colours and shapes - it definitely has visual impact. :)
