Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in September, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.
Who's psyched for Inktober? \o/

Date: 2018-09-30 04:24 pm (UTC)Me too! I like that Inktober is a structured art challenge, but allows for varying levels of complexity and skill - from experimenting with quick, random sketches to more elaborate ink work. :)

Date: 2018-09-30 04:40 pm (UTC)So far, I've planned out the direction I want them to take, with some quick pencil sketches in my planner, but I haven't really buckled down to working on the actual pieces as yet.
I'm hoping to integrate both Big Bang challenges as part of my Inktober works, as well the previous Drawesome challenge (the Time Travel one). I can definitely see words like Potions and Bottles, Space, Antique, Clockwork, etc. lending itself to a Time Travel AU. :)

Date: 2018-09-30 09:00 pm (UTC)I am so terrible with procrastinating, but am determined this year not to leave completing my BB art down to the last minute. /o\

Date: 2018-10-02 06:45 am (UTC)And thank you! ATCs are Artist Trading Cards; basically they're miniature paintings in a certain format (2.5x3.5'' or 6.4x8.9cm), that you swap with other artists.

Date: 2018-10-03 09:41 pm (UTC)ATCs sound really cool! I'd never heard of such a thing before and now kind of what to try.

Date: 2018-09-30 08:22 pm (UTC)I always have trouble writing in my journal with a ballpoint pen when I'm on the bed, due to the flow of ink at that angle. Come to think of it, I remember encountering that same issue when I did the first few sketches for last year's Inktober.
Huh. Will have to look into acquiring one of those.

Date: 2018-09-30 09:26 pm (UTC)What have I been up to in September - well, like Goss, I've been working on my DCU Bang art, which is still under wraps at the moment. I've done art for the Dean Cas Big Bang which is posting on Tuesday, did two fills for SPN_Masquerade (both SFW and not at all kinky LOL) https://amberdreams.livejournal.com/591305.html
I did a SPN/Marvel crossover art for SPN Summergen https://amberdreams.livejournal.com/590537.html
I've submitted two designs for painted sculpture trails next year, and have two more to finish and submit before the end of October.
SPN Reversebang modding took up a few days of my time this month but we had all our art works claimed and some really good pieces too, so I'm looking forward to seeing the partnerships in action.
I've signed up for SPN Eldritch and managed to claim one of my fave authors so I'm well chuffed about that!
Oh yes - I went on a watercolour workshop over three mornings at the start of the month, that was a lot of fun and you can see my efforts here if you're interested. https://amberdreams.livejournal.com/587394.html
Posted this Dean Winchester art for Quicky_bang https://amberdreams.livejournal.com/585990.html
And my laptop blew up so I had a couple of weeks panic before I got a proper diagnosis from Apple and found all I needed was a new internal cable - I'd very nearly taken the first advice I got and dumped the hard drive! Thank goodness I didn't and got a second opinion!

Date: 2018-09-30 11:00 pm (UTC)Love your watercolour pieces. Especially the one with the light shining over water. Cool how you were able to capture that luminescence with just a couple simple brushstrokes. :)
Also, Hulk!Sam is AMAZING. XD

Date: 2018-09-30 09:41 pm (UTC)I'm totally psyched for Inktober! I love pen & ink work (I usually draw with a fountain pen although I also have a dip pen that I like very much). Alongside the prompts I'm probably just going to keep doing some life drawing.

Date: 2018-09-30 11:13 pm (UTC)Oooh! I just clicked over to your journal, and it's very cool that you do so much ink work.
I like the confident way you use quick, spiky strokes for your figure studies, kinda gives it a great kinetic feel.
Definitely looking forward to your Inktober art! :)

Date: 2018-10-01 10:05 pm (UTC)I'm not using Inktober for it though! I'm doing Jeanne d'Arc for Inktober. Parce que j'en ai grave ma claque que le FN et leurs sbires occupe le terrain de son imaginaire collectif.
I've suscribed back!

Date: 2018-10-01 10:12 am (UTC)Maybe because two pieces I made a while ago for an exchange were finally de-anoned and reposted:
- Dans les bras de Morphée // The Ancient Magus Bride (I loooove being able to tag this one "platonic consentacle" :D) https://jainas-art.tumblr.com/post/178260631187/dans-les-bras-de-morph%C3%A9e-the-ancient-magus
- My family, by Pubert Addams (aka Le dessin) https://jainas-art.tumblr.com/post/178272782417/le-dessin-by-jainas-chapters-11-fandom-the
I also:
- at last totally finished my Ravage Anthology participation (I redid the scanning on one of the pieces) and posted the previews: https://jainas-art.tumblr.com/post/178491786877/jainasherself-a-glimpse-of-my-many-submissions
- did a quick design for a potential silk priting illustration, from a picture that a friend sent me of her cat. Maybe it will be her christmas present if I can manage it (three colors is tricky and I would need to buy new screens!) https://jainas-art.tumblr.com/post/178631157262/rouckyquick-illustrator-sketch-for-a-silk-printing
- doodled Hannibal characters https://jainas-art.tumblr.com/post/178106163297/doodles-while-watching-tv
- doodled a Sobek in the same style as a previous series of drawings of egyptian gods https://www.instagram.com/p/BnrjnJChIEC/?taken-by=artofclem
- did a random illustration to experiment with colors and brushes https://jainas-art.tumblr.com/post/178146745237/wolves-a-5-colors-illustration-for-training
Also I did all my pieces for Murder Husband Big Bang yesterday, but that's still under wraps for now. :)
And I'm pumped for inktober! I start tonight, with a quote from Ursula Le Guin about cats! :)

Date: 2018-10-02 09:24 am (UTC)Also the design for the silk printing of the cat is really cool! I like the sort of minimalist, graphic look to it. It's got a lot of great contrasting colours and shapes - it definitely has visual impact. :)
