Drawesome Monthly Check-In Post

Today's the last day of June (wow!), and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in June, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

Have been busy trying to finish up a bunch of in progress stuff/things I owe people, but also started one new job at the beginning of June and starting a new new job in a couple weeks, so that's also been keeping me busy.

Anyway I did a few things:

This set of vegetable illustrations that I posted on redbubble also.

Finally posted a final of Shoukei (that portrait I've been working on for months).

Did another portrait of my Moon Godlike Watcher for Pillars of Eternity so I can use it while playing.

And I'm focusing on finishing up the red-breasted nuthatch commission for my friend, so the actual paint stage is here as of posting this and I'm digitally sketching the progression of some embellishments that I'll try to finish up in the next week or so. It's been hard because I'm not really used to painting so big (the paper is 11x17) and I'm finding it a bit tricky to get gouache to cover large areas smoothly. I'm going to go over the gold bits with finetec too so it'll be kinda sparkly in person.

After I get through these though I do want to at least try some of the diversity challenges I missed. Might be a while yet, though.

Your art is very cool, your royal roots are both cute and clever... :)
The portraits are cool too, and I like the bird in progress a lot! Painting big can be such a challenge! I look forward to seeing the finished work!

Ooh, I like all of those a lot, especially the nuthatch painting. Did your friend want a large painting - is that why it's that size?

yeah she wanted a larger painting to hang. while I could've done it digitally and just made her a larger print, I thought if I did it this way she could have the original as part of the commission price and I could still sell prints, too.

Ah. I've never done a large gouache work either. I guess it's all good experience!

yeah it's been good learning and also was an excuse to buy some nice brushes since I needed larger ones anyway hah.

Ha, royal roots, I love them! Your custom watcher looks really cool and otherworldly.
The bird illustration is my favourite. It has sucha distinct style and I think the Finetec paint will make that really extra special.
