Admin Post: Community Check-In for December (Sorry it's a day late, guys)

Yesterday was the last day of the month (and year!), and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you?

Did you get a chance to take part in any fandom activities in December, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, New Year's Resolutions, etc.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to you guys for your friendship, encouragement and support, and for making this community a joy to be a part of. *hugs everyone* Happy New Year!

Yup - it's for a sculpture trail in Norwich in the summer. I'm also putting designs in for penguins, giraffes, snails, snowdogs, robins, bees and Gromits (from Wallace & Gromit), all for similar trails round the country - finger crossed I get some (but not all as they have very similar deadlines for completion!!). Last year I painted two bears, a lion and an otter - I post stuff about it on my journal under the wild in art tag or on Facebook if you're interested!

If I understand correctly the city provide the sculpted animals, and people propose designs in order to be the one to paint them? That's awesome! It sounds both like a lot of work and a lot of fun! I didn't knew it was even a thing. :)

Yes, that's exactly it - I only found out about it in 2016 when our town had a trail and I entered a design that got picked. Then I realised they were happening all over, so starting putting designs in. Half the fun is coming up with appropriate puns! You should check around - they seem to be running this kind of scheme all over the world now.
