Today's the last day of June, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in June, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

Also, we have a new art challenge for the month of July, which will be posted tomorrow. :)

Drawesome Challenge #30

Seems like my dry spell is broken, and it's good to be drawing once more. I enjoyed taking part in the 30 Circles art challenge this month. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but it did get the adrenaline pumping, so that was fun! LOL.

Equality Auction Art

And I also volunteered to do a watercolour artwork for equalityauction. I've been in communication with the recipient of the winning bid, and we've settled on what I'm going to be drawing for them, so I'm really glad to have something concrete to work on, in a fandom that I'm familiar with.

I've set myself a deadline to finish by the end of July, so looking forward to working on that in the coming weeks. :)

A quieter month art-wise, although I did Manage 5 Daily View landscapes. Also finished a 6-page digital comic for the Venom Big Bang but that won’t go live for a while yet.
Mostly trying to do writing challenges for McShep and due South Big Bangs, and next month there’ll be art complements to do for those and the Venom one.
I’m also planning a portrait series of BIPOC characters from several fandoms and have located references. Will probably have to be a once a week thing, with everything else. :)

June was quiet, artwise, but challenge 30 got me back into the mood (well, as time permits). I did one piece in watercolour and am quite happy with it. The paper is supposed to be very good (it was an impulse buy in a larger order, I had never heard of the manufacturer Fabriano before), but I definitely need to practise with it more.



Next month I‘m trying to do more pieces for Nirvana in Fire, based on moments in the episodes and trying to convey mood via wet-in-wet watercolour effects. Let‘s see how that goes. I‘ve also signed up for wipbigbang and am going to research the characters because it‘s going to be art for a new fandom for me. Aaand I‘ve signed up for ds_c6d_bigbang, but art claims for that aren‘t for a while yet. I am going to check out what the fics this round are going to be, regarding characters and subject matter.

I've figured out what the issue was and have picked up the comic again!

I've been trying to set aside a large block of time to really work at drawing. At least an hour as day. I've joined a few FB groups that put out daily drawing prompts, although I never share.
