Title: Torso sketch
Artist: Tarlan (
tarlanx)
Rating: PG
Fandom: None as yet
Characters/Pairings: None as yet
Content Notes: digital painting from memory
This year has been stressful and sent me spirally into apathy but I really wanted to get at least one drawing started during amnesty week. It's not finished by a LONG SHOT but I thought I'd share what I had done so far.
It's a digital painting done from memory (no photo references etc) so is probably weird looking! My memory is so bad these days. I've not done a lot of digital painting, mostly I do digital manips-collages art using photos. I used to draw and even tried watercolors a few decades back but it all fell by the wayside due to work/home/kids etc. I really would love to start drawing by hand again but drawing on screen is just as rewarding. I know the more I practice the better I'll get... just need more free time when I'm not so tired or stressed, I guess :)
I'll carry on working on this piece and hopefully have a completed piece to share at a later date... if that's OK!

Date: 2017-08-06 02:17 pm (UTC)The subtle shading on the torso is nice, especially since you did it straight from memory. That is awesome. :D :D
And cool to know that you have experience in both traditional and digital painting. I loooove watercolours! I'm not as experienced in digital work, but I want to try becoming more proficient at it, since it seems to open up a world of possibilities. That "Undo" button is FABULOUS for allowing you to experiment without ruining things.

Date: 2017-08-06 02:39 pm (UTC)One of the reasons why I like digital painting is the undo option :)
I was never much of an artist... and never had the amazing skill some people show from birth. Those people leave me in awe... but I try and will hopefully improve as I go along :)

Date: 2017-08-06 02:25 pm (UTC)(1) You are definitely free to finish the piece and re-post it to the comm at any time, just label with the original challenge number.
(2) And speaking of labels, even though it's a Work-in-progress, you'll still need to label this post with an artwork Title etc, using the Posting Format, which makes things easier for archiving your work in the Round-Up post.
Thanks. :)
