Today's the last day of August, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in August, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

I'm creating artwork for the new-to-me fandom of due South, for the Ray Vecchio Day 2019 challenge.(https://dsvirtualbar.dreamwidth.org/36293.html)
Having fun being inspired by all the great fanworks that already exist, and of course by the show itself. The show celebrated its 25th anniversary this year and the fandom is small but robust and still going strong. Fun!

Another quiet month due to RL work being busy, and I'm still sad about losing Possum, my cat and BFF. A bit low-key and hard to focus on art for a while there, but I'm pulling out of that now and doing several challenges.
In August I did trad art for the Flying Creature challenge, and cover art for a Hawaii 5-O podfic (a digital manip).
Works I've completed or planned towards the end of August, although not posted/revealed yet, are:
- a detailed watercolour piece for Remix Revival (plus a fic),
- and I'm working on some larger pieces as complementary art for a CAP Big Bang story.
Wish I felt more like writing as I have a deadline I need to meet, but art's coming easier just now.

Didn't do much art this August -- was travelling for two weeks in the middle -- but I've finally managed to get back into putting pencil to paper.

In August I was pretty busy running a new NSFW Merlin fest; Kinkalot (a replacement fest for Pornalot and it's predecessor, Summer Pornathon). So there's been a bunch of modding involved for that, as well as writing for most of the challenges. But I did haul out my tablet and give digital art another try (pretty unsuccessfully, lol) for a quick piece for our bonus challenge 4: taking a risk. The art can be found here (NSFW!).

I also continued with my Doodle-a-day page in my bullet journal that I did last month which is here.

I'm carrying on with the Doodle-a-day challenge for September, but I'm still debating what to do for Inktober. I feel like I should attempt something a bit more/bigger for that. But I don't know yet.

Love your doodle a day project - they look great, across the whole month! Did you use watercolour pencils?
Inktober doesn't have to be more than that really, just with more emphasis on inking.

Thanks! It's a lot of fun, though admittedly I did have to play catch up in August when I was on holiday as I didn't do it every day. Yes, I used some cheapy generic watercolour pencils from Lidl. All of my doodles so far have been done with an HB pencil, an eraser, 8 watercolour pencils, a fine nibbed fountain pen with black ink, and a white sakura gelly pen. I thought it would be a fun challenge to use limited materials, even if I can't always get the colours I want exactly.

I did up to day 15 last year for inktober in bigger Merlin-related pictures. I'm still toying with doing that again. Mostly I'd like to beat 15 days before getting too far behind, lol
