Today's the last day of June (wow!), and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in June, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Yay for summer holidays! What age students do you teach and what subject? Both my parents were teachers and it was one career path I always refused to entertain!

Oh, I teach Art. Heh. Also, beginner's Hindi.

My classes are all with 11-15 year olds, at an all-girls high school. So I'm interacting with a couple hundred pre-teen/teenaged girls on a daily basis.

It is exhausting. But girls are awesome, and I love Art, and teaching itself is fun. Being a natural introvert though, I just love vacation time even more. *g*

That's actually a nice age range - hopefully you catch them before they go full on teenage and while they are still full of enthusiasm for learning. And art! Lovely!

The constant giggling and raging hormones I could do without, but yes to their enthusiasm for learning at that age. Everything is so new to them. It is a pleasure seeing things as if for the first time, through their eyes. And to see them unlock their own talents and discover that *they* can create. The wonder is real.

It makes all the other stupid teenage stuff I have to deal with everyday worth it in the end. :b

I was reading my own diaries from aged 11- 16 the other day and cripes. I really wouldn't want to go back to that odd combination of pomposity and insecurity. On the one hand I was over confident and had an exaggerated view of my own talents, while on the other I was totally convinced I was rubbish at everything. I think being young is like having a split personality! Ha ha!
