I took the heart squiggle challenge in a really obvious way. Under the cut, a slightly larger version and also some random doodles from the little sketchbook I got from Sketchbox. I made trying to fill it a challenge to myself. It's mostly practice and thumbnails. Making individual posts for them would be silly, but I wanted to share what I'd been working on. Hope that's okay.

Geguri in pencil, inktense and copic. I got some skintone color copics and I love them. So good. But they pick up pencil graphite in bad ways. This was the drawing where I learned that.

Also Geguri. (She's an eSports player who presents as a frog in avatars. She just signed to the Shanghai Dragons. So a frog dragon made sense to me?) Messing about with Inktense and pencil to get different effects. Lines done in ink.

An attempt to draw Samuel Luke streaming games. Colors are way off, his beard is way lighter and redder. Not sure how to get the right tone yet.

Richard Ayoade. Derwent sketching pencil and ink.

I inked and colored this sketch. I am really liking the copic skin tone set I got.

My Teifling had a very bad loot roll in my D&D session. Copic/ink.

(Teiflings are demon hybrids so they can have any skin color or random features the player wants. I am trying to work up visual references for mine.)

I found the exact color I wanted for my Teifling's skin, but I had a marker malfunction. It just started spewing ink. It was a Copic I'd just gotten specially for her skin color. Apparently, a badly stored or shipped copic can do that. I fixed the white of her eye, but I think I am going to redo it rather than try to save it.

Copic/ink. Copic Opaque White used to fix her eye.

Thumbail for what I hope will become a sort of steampunk Legolas and Gimli, with Gimli repairing clockwork in a coffeeshop. A couple pages of the sketchbook is figuring out Gimli's hands/watch.

I defeated the tiny sketchbook! Now to defeat more sketchbooks by filling them.

I love seeing other people's sketchbooks, so much fun!
I hadn't heard that about copic markers leaking, how frustrating!

Thanks for participating in the Squiggle challenge, and great to see how you used the Inktense pencils and other materials in the different pieces. :)

Hey thank you for sharing your whole sketchbook with us! It’s always interesting. I don’t know what you did but Richard’s hair looks amazing!
Oh and I have never used copics but I’ll keep your lessons in mind if I ever get some. I always do a pencil sketch before and it’s good to know that won’t work if I try to work copics over that.

Good going with the squiggle and the sketchbook. I have a few copics but no good fleshtone ones - I’m sure it’s a lot easier, having those.

And I love your robot with her balloon. I took the challenge in an obvious way, too -- it's an adorable squiggle, after all.
