Drawesome Monthly Check-In Post

Today's the last day of May, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in May, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming art challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

Reminder: A Round-Up for the MerMay 2024 Challenge will be posted tonight, and a new monthly challenge will be issued over the weekend. :)

This is the time of year when I start my new bullet journal so I've been working on the art for that - my spreads are over here at [community profile] journalsandplanners: https://journalsandplanners.dreamwidth.org/45539.html

I feel like I get in my own way with figure drawing so I can see where the timed sessions would be very helpful.

>>because it feels like there's never enough time to figure out the angles and proportions, much less get them to look right in just a few strokes.

I know what you mean. The perfectionist in me is always having trouble with that aspect of timed practice as well.

I LOVED the no erase challenge and will continue to practice in ink without pencil sketches. I really liked you varied poses, tey all looked good to me, some of those were pretty challenging!

The No Erase Challenge from April was very inspiring. It made me start a wuxia heroines series:
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4. (or some of them on AO3)

I also posted a piece I had forgotten to put on Dreamwidth: fic illustration with coloured pencils on black paper.

Mysterious Lotus Casebook continues to inspire, so I made two pieces for that too: a boy and his dog, Carrying

Going from Dief to Hulijing! I seldom do animals, but this is one cute doggo. :-)

It’s been fairly low key at my end, and still warm enough for gardening to keep me busy outside quite a bit. I’ve kept up with my Stargate Tarot cards, working through the Suit Court cards, e.g. the King of Gates. And I did the famous scene from OFMD for Mermay. Other than that, a quiet month.
