Tomorrow's the last day of March, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in March, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming art challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

ANNOUNCEMENT: ART CHALLENGE #43 EXTENSION

March seems to have been extra busy for many of us, so we're extending our current drawing challenge - Gijinka: Objects - for another month.

The new round-up post for submissions to this challenge will now be on Saturday 30th April, 2022.

Aw man, I haven't gotten a chance to do much art this month. :/

I did manage to start sketching out an idea for the Gijinka Challenge last week, but haven't had time to develop it properly as yet. I do have some free time coming up next month though, so I'm hoping to get that drawing done soon!

I haven't done much art this month, but at least the weather was so good I had the opportunity to go outside and draw some spring flowers. You can find the results here.

They're beautiful, love the colors! There's something so amazing and satisfying about being able to go outside and art. I need to make time for that in my life.

I did some sketches for the Gijinka challenge, but didn't make it past that. I've mostly been working on decorative planner pages. I am also going to work on a 'stashdown' project soon to try to reduce how many art supplies I have by using them up... but also I have a few markers I've been trying to get rid of by using up for a while so I am not sure how this is going to go.

Ooh, the planner pages are neat! I like the idea of using fannish themes for the layouts. ^__^

A stashdown sounds like a great idea!! I don't know if I could use things up though. I mean literally. I have a few colored pencils that are getting to the point where they will need an extender to continue using. Although I've thought about just gluing the next one to the old one and just carrying on.

Yeah, art supplies can he hard to use up. It's a mixed blessing.

Congrats on all the art! I'm not familiar with the fandom, but so awesome that it's been inspiring you to create art. ^__^

BTW, I am re-watching Nirvana In Fire right now (through reaction vids), which I haven't seen in quite a long time, and OMG still SO AMAZINGGGG. <333

Another quiet month for posting art, but I have four fic-illustration pieces for a challenge that are unrevealed as yet, so I have been doing projects. I have a stargate tarot card (King of Arms) half done and need to get it completed. Oh well, I managed the gijinka challenge anyway, and will post more art in April.

I've been slowly working my way through a Skill Share class on developing my own style. It's been really interesting work - gather pics from artists whose style I admire, and annotate them, really dig into what I like about them. And then gather works of mine that I'm happy with and annotate what style elements I like. That was just the first two exercises!

I'm in the middle of designing the final project, which is 26 different pieces based on a theme I choose with prompts I choose to fit the theme. I'm working on my list of prompts. I can see based on the ground work, that by the time I finish all the works, I should have developed something pretty consistent.

Yes, a bit like Inktober, trying to get through all the prompts. But it's an exciting challenge because that's something I've wanted for a while now - to have my own style that's recognizably *mine*.

I literally forgot all about this challenge. Oops. (I even had a kinda-sorta idea, but I think I shoved it to the back of my mind because... this one feels hard. But challenging ourselves is the whole point, right?)

Yes, this one is definitely a challenge in terms of conceptualization and character design. Hopefully the extension will be of help to those who need a bit more time to work on it. :)
