I just thought after doing the review of August that I should have posted this here as well as on my journal!

GLOBAL ART LIBRARY 2018 Sketchbook Project

I can't remember how I came across this now but I've sent off for my sketchbook. It sounds like such a wonderful project, and I'd LOVE to go to Brooklyn just to browse through their hundreds and thousands of sketchbooks.
So in case anyone fancied having a go - you can put anything and everything in your book, you don't have to be an 'artist' to contribute.

It's a little bit pricey for me, and shipping stuff to the Caribbean is always risky, but I would *love* to participate.

Did they say anything about whether the book has to be filled by a single person only? As an art teacher, I might actually spend the money on one of the sketchbooks plus the digitizing, for the kids at school to fill as a group. It might be a really cute project for the new school term. I know that they would be absolutely delighted that their work could be part of a travelling exhibition.

I don't remember reading anything that would prohibit your idea (which sounds great to me!) but you could always ping them an email and ask if you can't find it on the website.

Yeah, I didn't find anything on the site, so I just sent off an email to them. Hope to get a speedy reply. :)

I'm thinking that if they have no objection to it, I could introduce it as a class project starting next week, while I order the sketchbook. They could draw on regular paper for now, and I could cut/paste it into the pages of the book whenever it is shipped here.

Yes, I had a quick look through some of the sketchbooks they've already digitised and there are some where people have stuck stuff in as well as ones that are more conventional. Such an awesome variety - I love it!

Oh! I just got a reply. She said:

"Yes, this is done often with school groups - we have seen many books that an entire class has filled out together."

So yay! I am *so* ordering one of these!! :D

That's brill! They will have so much fun with it I'm sure!
