Admin Post: Community Check-In for March 2020
Mar. 31st, 2020 10:40 am
Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in March, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.
I know it hasn't been easy, especially given the reality we're living in right now. Since many people have been at home for the last couple weeks, how have you been occupying your time? Got any tips or finds?

Also, just a reminder that the Round-Up post for Drawing Challenge #29: Prompt Bingo has now been extended to Tuesday 28th April. :)

Date: 2020-03-31 02:42 pm (UTC)My life took a drastic turn, and the last 6 weeks have been focusing on my dad and his medical care. But now that things with him are starting to level out somewhat, I'm hoping to have a little more time and energy (and focus!) to work on creating art.
Like many of us, I'm homebound for the next couple weeks anyway, so am looking forward to taking up the Prompt Bingo art challenge. :)
In the mean time, one of the bright parts of my day is seeing all the lovely works YOU guys are producing. They cheer me immensely. \o/

Date: 2020-03-31 07:42 pm (UTC)Being at home instead of my usual daytime job, somehow time gets eaten up doing...I don't know WHAT? I swear, I only just had breakfast and tinkered around the kitchen, and somehow it's afternoon already. Where did the day go?? O_O

I participated in the first one couple of weeks ago and it was a lot of fun.

Date: 2020-03-31 06:45 pm (UTC)The other two pieces are already posted to the comm under the challenge 29 tag. I‘m saving Steve for last because he is the prettiest (and I‘m still undecided which prompt to use for him).
I still have a personal project to work on this week, my sister wants a pencil drawing of Rodin‘s sculpture The Cathedral for her birthday.
I‘ve been heroically resisting signing up for any art commitments which are probably going to be too much for me to handle in a couple of weeks time. In the mean time I‘m glad I have this challenge to work on.

Date: 2020-03-31 07:37 pm (UTC)Ooooooh! You gotta share the results when you're finished.
Glad to see that you're keeping yourself free from too many future art commitments. That's definitely for the best right now. But in the mean time I'm really enjoying this H50/Elementals series that you're doing. :) :)

Date: 2020-04-03 05:59 am (UTC)I'm also painting a daily gouache landscape which is more about colour and form, and figuring out how to do hard things like clouds! The landscapes are on my journal at the "daily views" tag: https://mific.dreamwidth.org/tag/daily+views. I missed yesterday but I'll do another today.
