Drawesome Monthly Check-In Post

Today's the last day of March, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in March, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

I know it hasn't been easy, especially given the reality we're living in right now. Since many people have been at home for the last couple weeks, how have you been occupying your time? Got any tips or finds?

------

Also, just a reminder that the Round-Up post for Drawing Challenge #29: Prompt Bingo has now been extended to Tuesday 28th April. :)

I KNOW! It‘s horrible how time gets away from me. I do nap more, but that doesn‘t account for all of it.

So tough to have the worry about your Dad and then all this Covid stress, all at once. Hang in there and I hope you can get some time for yourself to relax doing art.

I haven't drawn much lately, but I wanted to give a tip to everyone that if you like life drawing, the British artist Stuart Semple is hosting virtual life drawing sessions on Facebook every Friday:

https://www.facebook.com/MrStuartSemple/videos/525887078358967/

I participated in the first one couple of weeks ago and it was a lot of fun.

I had to look up this feud and couldn‘t believe what I read. I‘ve never heard of either of those artists but what a ridiculous thing!

Anyway thanks for sharing the link!

I'm definitely Team Semple in the pigment war, but I don't do Facebook. Still, there are lots of other classes out there.

I finally started on my third piece for the bingo challenge today (Danny Williams+fire). As I already knew, frontal view portraits are a lot harder than profile views. I can’t be bothered to change the whole sketch even though I know the eyes are too big.
The other two pieces are already posted to the comm under the challenge 29 tag. I‘m saving Steve for last because he is the prettiest (and I‘m still undecided which prompt to use for him).

I still have a personal project to work on this week, my sister wants a pencil drawing of Rodin‘s sculpture The Cathedral for her birthday.

I‘ve been heroically resisting signing up for any art commitments which are probably going to be too much for me to handle in a couple of weeks time. In the mean time I‘m glad I have this challenge to work on.

Thank you! I enjoy it too when it‘s not frustrating me. I redrew Danny‘s face three times already ARGH

Looking forward to more elementals art (yay for Steve and Danno!), and the cathedral project sounds interesting. Glad you're pacing yourself.

I'm a bit slow checking in - had to clear up some RL work-from-home stuff the last couple of days. I've mostly been arting to cope since we were locked down here in NZ 10 days ago, but have tried to do too much, attempting both a daily painting project and the "100 heads" challenge. Drawing the portraits takes more energy and time than I'd realised, and they're definitely not going to be done in 10 days, probably more like 30 days. The first 20 of them are here: https://mific.dreamwidth.org/141244.html.
I'm also painting a daily gouache landscape which is more about colour and form, and figuring out how to do hard things like clouds! The landscapes are on my journal at the "daily views" tag: https://mific.dreamwidth.org/tag/daily+views. I missed yesterday but I'll do another today.

I already told you how much I enjoy the daily views, but don't stress yourself out! Take care.
