I found this fascinating video of automatic drawing tonight: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MJYGFwGhHnA

This would be great as a breather challenge, for example after Drawtober or so.

How about a challenge where you use something else to make your picture, like pointillism or straight lines or anything really, like squares. Or even cross-hatching. Using smaller elements for values, edges, and volumes. Instead of traditional lineart.

I'm not sure I'm explaining what I mean very well. . .

Interesting. We'd need to explain the challenge and ideally link people to some sort of resource(s) or examples. Can you think of a few?

The shapes one is basically a mosaic, but in some ways it's like the stippling or pointillism, just with larger shapes that are all the same size and are differently coloured. Maybe bundle it in so like, have a stippling/pointillism/mosaic challenge? People could use any shape, not just squares. Like, I once made a drawing for a friend's wedding invite of a tree covered in tiny red flowers where every flower was a heart. :)

Here's another challenge idea I just had. A stained glass challenge. To make drawings or paintings that are in the style of stained glass, or that prominently feature stained glass, like as a background behind the character(s). I guess some stylistic features are an outer border and more prominent lines framing the main features of the work, and dividing up the background somehow so the "panes" aren't too large. Here are some examples:

I just saw this art: https://affordableart.com/artists/hiroto-norikane

And I thought we could make a challenge out of it. Something like art that has to be framed in some way, maybe specify it has to be a window, a door, a portal, a stargate ;-), an arched garden gate…. (maybe even providing templates of frames for people who don‘t want to come up with their own).

Since we have so many great challenge ideas in this post already, how about letting members vote for the next (or the one ofter that) one? Putting up:

-stained glass
- pointillism
- fantasy creatures in untypical environment
- beards

for example. Oh wait, do we have a paid account?

Chiming in again. I really loved the BIPOC in fantasy challenge and would love something along similar lines again with a different theme (science fiction! fairy tales! myths! romance! regency/historical setting…), possibly next year?
