July is Disability Pride Month. The goal of this month's challenge is to portray persons of diverse abilities.

Challenge #57: Disability Diversity

Create a drawing featuring a disabled person.

eg. A character from your favourite fandom, a self-portrait, a figure study, an original character, etc.

Disability is the discrimination people face due to the failure of society to eliminate the barriers encountered due to impairments, whether they be physical, organisational, or social. Read more on the social model of disability here, as well as further information on disability from the World Health Organisation here.

Some types of disabilities:

• Thinking
  
• Remembering
  
• Learning
  
• Communicating
  
• Hearing
  
• Mental health
  
• Social relationships

Although disabled people sometimes refers to a single population, this is actually a diverse group of people with a wide range of needs. Two people with the same type of disability can be affected in very different ways. Chronic illness can be a disability. Some disabilities may be hidden or not easy to see.
