Weekly Challenge #4: 1 Object, 2 Perspectives - ZPM (SGA/SG1) - and a technical ask

Title: Rodney's Treasure (on my DW)

Characters/Pairings:  implied Rodney off-screen making grabby hands
Content Notes: digital artwork. I relied heavily on several photo references, mostly this great 3D modelling by chiletrek on Deviantart, and also on photos of "real" ZPMs from the show, from Stargate Wiki. 

Linked with this, I wanted to make it into a gif but my giffing software is old and crappy so I had to put that idea on hold. I mean a gif as in an animation made from images, not pulling a gif out of video footage). What do you guys use to make animations? Is there a good free programme or on-line thing out there that doesn't force you to advertise the programme? Or if there's not, I'd settle for a cheap paid programme as well. Any suggestions welcome!

This is cool! I'd really like to get to grips with drawing software that allows you to make shapes and straight lines... one day when I'm not too lazy to work through a tutorial...

I use makeagif.com for my gifs - it's free and if you register an account (just email and password required) you can get rid of their watermark. It's probably not the most sophisticated tool but it works well enough for me, and you can make gifs from a variety of sources.

Thanks! I use a really old version of Photoshop for art. I just learned how to use it by using it, as I hate tutorials. But the latest versions of PS are very high powered and I really should do a tutorial as I'm not really using it properly.
And thanks for the gif link - looks like what I need!
(ETA - sadly still not quite the gif programme I'm looking for, as there's no control over the image blocks re transition time etc. )

I am absolutely clueless with regard to digital art, but that ZPM looks amazing! I knew it was familiar when I saw the thumbnail but only figured it out when I looked at the description. Really well done! I love the colours.

ETA: Also: Rodney/ZPM OTP!!!
