Tomorrow's the last day of January, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in January, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

Also, we have a new drawing challenge for the month of February, which will be posted tomorrow. :)

Hmm... this past month has been mostly occupied with RL stuff - settling into the new school term, building construction, and also I've taken up learning a new language. So it's been a kinda hectic month, but also lots of (pleasantly) interesting things happening. :)

Upcoming Art Challenges
I am looking forward to working on my sundial_exchange art (Guardian fandom) this upcoming week, as it's due next month.

Holiday Card Exchange
Also, with the delayed mail all around the world, the holiday cards are still trickling in. I've really been enjoying getting a couple of these each week, some of which were from our own drawesome card exchange. Also, since I had to re-route all my international mail through the U.S. (thank you again, minoanmiss! ♥), it's been quite lovely hearing from people who have received my own cards, and such a relief to know that it reached its destination safely.

Thanks! The writing is Japanese. The character is biracial, lives in America and tends to lean towards Japanese furnishings in his personal space.

Thanks for the details! I couldn‘t think of the right term (kanji) but I remembered that Japanese writing also uses signs of Chinese origin.

A productive month for art, and I've also been podficcing and (mostly) procrastinating about writing, plus doing the Snowflake challenge. A bunch of Venom stuff finally posted this month which I'd finished back in late 2020, so January looks a bit busier than it was.

Post hand surgery I’ve been taking it very easy and slow getting back into art endeavors. I bullet journal daily and have video chat art sessions weekly that have been steady and not taxing, so I added some more intense painting sessions in the last few months.

No fandom activities and no deadline for me yet. I’m attempting a bullet journaling YouTube channel and that’s all I feel like doing. My hand still aches and now the other hand is doing what the right one did, so I’m trying not to get upset about it.

I like the paintings! Sometimes having a hand or limb out of commission temporarily puts more stress on the other side - fingers crossed it'll get better soon.

Insta won‘t let me see the paintings without accepting all their cookies (that‘s illegal in the EU btw) so I can‘t comment on these.

I LOVED your video though, a great landscape for January and it was fascinating watching the process with oils (I only do watercolour).

I've gotten back on Personal Project and also tossed some pages at the comic, so yay, I suppose. I feel like I should be doing/have done more but on the other hand I am stil recuperating from being in the hospital so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was a bit worried about not finding the time for any art projects apart from my sundial_exchange assignment. Fortunately though I started by finishing an older Drawtober piece (SFW) early in the month and the snowflake_challenge got me to paint a watercolour portrait (SFW).

I sketched three ideas for my sundial assignment today and hope to colour them in time for the deadline this week. I started using a new watercolour pad which is hot-pressed - it takes some getting used to! But apparently it is very good for erasing amd using masking tape so I‘ll see how that goes. All three sketches have water as a theme.

Apart from that I deliberately didn‘t sign up for any challenges but hope to do 2-3 art pieces per month this year. I asked for some fictional female relationships as inspiration in my journal and hope to use these ideas soon. Also an AU Witcher fic by estefee I read recently inspired some ideas.
