I couldn't finish this tonight but I think the concept is there. :p Ink and wash, mostly.

The old one was from 2000 when I was in uni, so literally 24 years ago lol.



This was probably the best piece I produced that entire year. I had no idea how to draw people AT ALL in any view but front-on or profile. :p There was A LOT of "we're going to hide the hands in various ways because we can't draw hands!" :p The proportions are weird. I still like the basic color scheme though.

Also, the OC was left-handed but with the benefit of having FENCED, I cannot figure out what the absolute heck he is doing with his dagger grip. :p

This was also around when I was trying to learn to draw from shoujo anime, so he's not actually supposed to look like he's thirteen lol.

This was done with ink and watercolor pencil.

Ooh, the colours in the old version are lovely, yes! The new version has lots of movement and drama, and an excellent facial expression. Great to see the improvement in your figure drawing!

Thank you! I think I'd like to preserve most of the color scheme, but with watercolor I planned on building up the saturation in layers and I ran out of time. XD

It's heartening to know that after 24 years SOMETHING got better hahahahaha. :D :D

How cool that you still have art pieces from back then! I like the colouring in the original one too - the intensity really makes it pop.

It's interesting to see how much your figure drawing's improved since back then, in terms of proportion, bringing dynamic movement to the figure, and also details like the (dreaded *g*) hands and feet. :)

Ahahaha some of the other ones in that notebook are SO TERRIBAD. XD So many people hiding their hands lololol. But I think the colors really did work - I wanted to intensify the colors in the redone one but with watercolor I usually build it up in layers and I ran out of time.
