Admin Post: Community Check-In for April 2023

Today's the last day of April, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in April, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming art challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

Reminder: A Round-Up for the Draw What You Love Challenge will be posted tonight, and a new challenge will be issued later this week. :)

I haven‘t signed up for any new challenges this month which was a good thing. I did a couple of pieces in addition to my drawesome challenge piece:

a second installment of my Tang dynasty DMBJ AU

a gift for a fan translator of DMBJ

I also reworked an older WIP from last year but I‘m still not happy with it (it‘s a fic illustration and I can‘t get the likeness quite right. I might just start over on a new page).

I am also currently drawing another iteration of Zhang Qiling with animals (which has become a theme for me).

I didn't manage to send out cards for Poem In Your Pocket Day as I would have liked to this year, but I posted poems more days than not and I managed to draw a Minoan for Draw What You Love month, so!

A very quiet month for me fannishly just lurking and reading. I've still been more focussed on DIYing stuff for my new flat, and am realising that I'm also getting out of the habit of doing fanworks, and that I need to get back in the saddle soon before I lose all momentum.
