Tomorrow's the last day of September, and we'd love to have you check in and chat with us. How have things been with you this past month?

Did you sign up for or take part in any fandom activities in September, or have you been working on any personal art projects? Are you currently trying to meet a deadline? Feel free to share upcoming challenges that have got you excited, any frustrations you've been experiencing, possible goals for the next month, and so on.

Are you planning on taking part in some version of (?)'tober next month? :)

We'll be doing Drawtober: drawesome's own compilation of daily prompts suggested by our community members:



Our challenge is very chill. You can create drawings daily, weekly or randomly. Feel free to combine prompts. Use ink or whatever drawing material makes you happy. The main thing is to be inspired, and to get drawing! :D

I am working on fanart for an exchange but that won't be revealed until October. XD I'm hoping I'll have time to participate in Drawtober but I'm under deadline for a book so we'll see. T_T

Yes, in the past people haven't posted every day, but maybe every few days they post a few artworks. I haven't decided yet which way I'll do it.

I have been drawing recursive art and writing surprisingly many stories, ahaha. My main plan for October is to survive, and maybe make some art along the way.

I had a big work project that only just wrapped up, but I did a few things across September.
Art for Brumeier's story (a 'Sentinel' AU, with vampire!Jim)
Three BIPOC portraits - Chadwick Boseman, Li Ziqi (YouTube), and Naomi Nagata (The Expanse)
Crown of Roses Teyla of Athos (SGA)
Ray Vecchio's Classic Italian Cuisine and a digital piece for due South's Ray Vecchio Day.
I have very little RL work on now, so I'm hoping to do Drawtober and have been experimenting with a brush pen and different pads or sketchbooks. It'll probably be brushpen and fineliner drawings, coloured with inks. Not sure if I'll post every day, might be a bit more intermittent.

This month I've only been working on pieces for the challenges I signed up for:

wipbigbang: I did art for a new fandom, The Witcher here. I originally wanted to practice Jaskier and Geralt via the shrimp method but that turned out too involved for my energy levels and the available time.

poi_fanworks: I finished two watercolour pieces for the Person of Interest Bigbang and am working on the third (probably final) piece for a lovely story with an artist in it! I can't share these yet, posting dates are in November.

Next is ds_c6d_bigbang: I've started reading the fic and hope to get inspired.

nifexchange: I'll get my assignment tomorrow and am SUPER EXCITED! There were so many good prompts this year.

And also there is Drawtober of course. Fortunately The two challenges running parallel have their deadlines in November so I hope to be able to do at least a couple of Drawtober pieces.

I am so run down by stress, and most of my creative energy has been going to setting up some tabletop games I'm going to run ahah. I did one (1) spitpaint-prompted speedpaint and a sketch of an npc in a game I'm playing in and I've been noodling around with weird creatures in my sketchbook that I haven't really scanned.

Belatedly realizing I maybe should've posted about Lightbox Expo here, because I got a ticket to the online version of that, but a lot of the videos that came out of it are around on youtube if you search for Lightbox Expo fwiw. A lot are more about getting into the animation/comics/games industries which is not necessarily relevant to everyone here, but some things are just general art talks. One that was fun was Loish and Iris Compiet talking about their art journeys.

Anyway, I'm definitely not going to be able to do a daily October challenge, but I'd like to at least do a couple pieces for prompt stuff. I've been having some fun with a particular ink pen in my sketchbook that is terrible for basically all media that I'm trying to finish (~4 more spreads and I'm done!), so it might even be in ink, hah.
